3D Oral Imaging
WHAT IS 3D ORAL IMAGING?
While digital oral x-rays can capture two-dimensional images of your teeth and mouth, 3D oral imaging offers a comprehensive 360-degree view. At Cedar House Family Dentistry, 3D imaging enables Dr. Anita Jhangiani to thoroughly examine the full extent of any potential oral health issues or damage to your mouth, teeth, and jaws. This innovative technology provides us with a detailed blueprint of your overall oral health. Not only does 3D oral imaging assist in identifying possible dental concerns, but it also aids in determining the most appropriate treatment. Additionally, the 3D images can be utilized to create more precise dental crowns, onlays, inlays, and implants. This imaging technique empowers our patients to make well-informed decisions about their dental care.
HOW DOES 3D ORAL IMAGING WORK?
Similar to dental x-rays, 3D imaging is typically included in your routine dental examination. It is also frequently utilized before cosmetic dental procedures and orthodontic treatments. The procedure is similar to getting an x-ray, but with 3D imaging, the camera rotates in a full 360-degree motion around your head. The entire process takes less than a minute to capture a complete view of your mouth. The images are then uploaded for your dentist to review, allowing them to identify any dental issues that may require treatment. Since the imaging involves radiation exposure, women who are pregnant or nursing should inform us beforehand.
